Here at the mothership we have more games, stationery, cards, magazines, and all around bright and shiny things than you could possibly scroll your way through online. We can't always guarantee stock, but if you saw something on Instagram, there's a good chance it's in the shop.
You can call us to check product availability before coming to the shop, or reach out to us at firstname.lastname@example.org about a special order. We'll always do our best to fulfill a custom order where it's possible.
You can buy a gift card for The Gifted Type online or in store, but these gift cards are ONLY redeemable in store at our Ottawa location at 254 Elgin Street. Gift cards are available in $25, $50, and $100 denominations online, or in custom denominations if you purchase in store. This card’s value cannot be replaced if lost. We ship across Canada and the USA. Shipping in Canada is calculated based on the weight and destination of the package, and is determined after a shipping address is added. American shipping is flat rate. Sorry international fans, we know you love us, but we don't offer international shipping!
Through Canada Post we offer Expediated Parcels (1-7 business days for delivery), Xpresspost (1-3 business days for delivery), and Priority (1-3 business days for delivery).
We do offer free shipping within Canada on orders over $50.00. To qualify, order totals must be equal to or greater than $50.00CAD after all promotional deductions, coupons, and discounts, and before tax is applied.
If you want to check where your package is currently chilling, you can track your order through Canada Post. Your confirmation e-mail will include an order summary, the shipping method you selected, address details, and a handy button to View Your Order. You can keep tabs on the status of your order, the expected delivery date set by Canada Post, and the tracking number provided by Canada Post. You can also opt to receive SMS text alerts if the suspense is just eating away at you.

At check out you will still be asked for your shipping address. Select “In-Store Pick Up (OTTAWA/GATINEAU)” as your shipping option at check out. It's free! Stay tuned; you'll receive a confirmation e-mail that your order is ready for pick up.
To pick up your order, bring a copy of your invoice (printed or electronic), a matching piece of ID, and a coffee... Okay, the coffee is optional...
We ask that all in-store pick up orders be collected within 10 business days, or that you contact email@example.com if you need to make other arrangements.
Deadline for Next Day Pick Up
Orders placed by 3:00PM (EST) Monday through Friday will be available for next day pick up. Orders placed on Saturday or Sunday will be available after 12:00PM (EST) on the following Monday. Exceptions may apply during holidays.
You can find our store hours below. For holiday hours we ask that you call in advance to confirm our hours of business, or check our Instagram for changes in store hours.
Have a Friend Pick Up Your Order
Wow, you have nice friends. If you would like someone else to pick up your order from the store, and they're game for it, leave a note in the Cart box “Note to The Gifted Type” with the first and last name of the person picking up your order. That person needs to bring a copy of the invoice (printed or electronic) and a piece of ID.
Sales tax on your order is calculated based on the applicable taxes on the products purchased and the destination of your order. The provincial and local sales tax laws of your order destination will apply at checkout.
Don't panic! If you’ve placed an order with your credit card and received a confirmation of your order, you're all good. Our shop does not process credit payments automatically – that way we can check that all your goodies are in stock and in tip-top condition to be sent your way before your get charged. Once your order has been fulfilled on our end, you will receive an e-mail for your outbound package and the charge will be processed.
Gifts are what we do best; please, it's even in the name. Things you need to know as a generous gift giver:
1. All items of your order have to go to the same destination; if you want to send gifts to separate people at separate addresses, you need to complete separate transactions.
2. If you want to send a gift to someone else, but find something that looks like a good gift for you while you're shopping, you'll have to complete separate transactions for each recipient.
3. Ensure the shipping address belongs to the recipient, but that the e-mail and billing address match your own payment details. We'll send you an electronic invoice with tracking number.
To select a gift checkout, indicate in the box “Note to The Gifted Type” when in the Cart that you want this purchase to be a gift. We'll include a gift receipt instead of an invoice.
We do not have a gift wrapping option at checkout, but all of our items are inspected, have price tags removed, and are wrapped in decorative tissue.
Whoops! Need to make some adjustments? If you want to add or remove items on your order, we can certainly do our best to make those changes before your package is sent. If you would like to make any changes or cancellations to your order, please e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org ASAP.
In the event we were just too efficient and your package has already been shipped, you can still return or exchange all or part of your order by mail or in-store. Keep reading for all the juicy details on how to return and exchange products below.
We take special orders on an order-by-order basis. This is the way to go if you are interested in purchasing a large quantity of a product or something that is not listed on our website for sale. E-mail us at email@example.com and we'll see what the workshop can do for you!
If you don't love it as much as we do, send it back. You can make a return or exchange either online or in-store on products that are in their original packaging, unused, and in store-bought condition. You have 7 days to make a return or exchange online, or 14 days in-store (including in-store pick up orders). Orders made outside this window aren't eligible for return or exchange anymore.
Online (Return Mail)
If you are returning or exchanging all or part of your order online, please e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org within 7 days of your package being delivered and let us know which items are being returned or exchanged.
Pack it all back up and ship us the items you are returning within 7 days from the date your package was delivered. This is the date that Canada Post indicates your package was delivered, and can be found by going to View My Order in your confirmation and shipping e-mails. Your refund or exchange will be issued when the product arrives back at the store and is inspected.
The Gifted Type does not refund any costs associated with shipping items back to the store.
To make a return or exchange in-store with one of our stellar customer service associates, bring the items with the original printed receipt from your package within 14 days of your package being delivered. This is the date that Canada Post indicates your package was delivered, and can be found by going to View My Order in your confirmation and shipping e-mails. If you requested an in-store pick up, this is the date your shipment e-mail indicates your packaged was ready for pick up. We'd be happy to assist you with an exchange or full refund.
No take-backsies. The following items are considered final sale and are not eligible for exchange or return: items marked final sale, sale items excluding promotions, and gift cards.
Curses! We were really hoping that could be avoided, but unfortunately there are forces beyond our control at work. Sometimes the planets align, Mercury is in retrograde, Canada Post accidentally does battle with your package, and damages happen before your order gets to you.
We protect your items as best we can before they go out into the world, but we just couldn't hire the whole fellowship for this journey. If your items arrive damaged, please take a photo of the damaged item and the packaging and e-mail the details to email@example.com within 7 days of your package arriving. We'll let you know what we can do to make it better!
